Toyota Concepts Presented at the Tokyo Motor Show

The auto show season officially kicked off in September with the Francfort Motor Show. Last week, it was the turn of the Tokyo Motor Show to open its doors. Held every two years, the Tokyo Motor Show is the place to go to see spectacular concepts and futuristic vehicles that look like they came out of a science fiction movie.

Japanese automaker Toyota was very busy at this year's Tokyo Motor Show as it showcased an array of concepts that target different needs and buyers. It would be impossible to cover everything that Toyota presented this year in Tokyo in one text, so we'll focus on the most interesting models.

Toyota TJ Cruiser

The Toyota FJ Cruiser hasn't been on the market for a few years, but fans of Toyota's old rugged SUV are still praying for a new generation. With the TJ Cruiser, their wishes haven't necessarily been granted, but we're not far off.

The TJ Cruiser is the perfect marriage between a minivan and a sport utility vehicle. Powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine mated to an electric motor, it offers all-wheel drive and, most importantly, a trunk that can hold just about anything. Lower the seats, and you get a virtually flat floor that can accommodate items of any size.

Toyota Fine-Comfort Ride

The Toyota Fine-Comfort Ride is probably the most unique model unveiled by Toyota in Tokyo. It is a fuel cell powered vehicle that can travel up to 1,000 kilometers on a single tank of hydrogen that takes the same amount of time to fill up as a tank of gas.

However, the most impressive feature of the Fine-Comfort Ride is not its engine, but rather its interior. It features a diamond-shaped configuration that offers even more space, especially for the second row passengers. In addition, the seats in the cabin are modular and can also be rotated.

Toyota GR HV SPORTS

The Toyota GR HV SPORTS is a two-seat sports car concept. It's easy to see the resemblance to the Toyota 86 and many believe that it could be the next generation of Toyota's sports coupe. Toyota wouldn't confirm anything, but the Japanese manufacturer did announce that the GR HV SPORTS is powered by a hybrid engine.
