If you are shopping for a three-row SUV and want to understand exactly what you are getting at each price point, the 2026 Toyota Grand Highlander is worth a close look. The lineup runs from the well-equipped XLE up through the Hybrid XLE, Limited, Hybrid Limited, and the high-output Platinum Hybrid MAX — and the differences between grades go well beyond trim aesthetics. Technology and safety features scale meaningfully as you move up.
Here is a clear breakdown of what changes across the lineup, starting with what every Grand Highlander shares.
No matter which grade you choose, every 2026 Grand Highlander comes standard with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 (TSS 3.0). This suite covers a Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Automatic High Beam, Lane Departure Alert, Lane Tracing Assist, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Road Sign Assist, and Proactive Driving Assist. All models also include the Blind Spot Monitor System with Safe Exit Assist, Parking Support Brake, 10 airbags, a trailer sway warning system, and tire pressure monitoring with auto location.
Every Grand Highlander also includes the Toyota Multimedia system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, three-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, and a wireless charging dock. AWD is standard across the lineup.
The 2026 Grand Highlander XLE seats eight and comes with a 12.3-inch Toyota Multimedia touchscreen backed by Service Connect, Safety Connect, and Remote Connect. The audio system delivers six speakers. Interior features include a 7-inch multi-information display, 18-inch alloy wheels, SofTex upholstery, a 10-way power-adjustable driver's seat, an 8-way power-adjustable front passenger seat, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror with integrated garage door opener. A power rear door is standard.
Safety on the XLE includes TSS 3.0 plus the Rear Cross Traffic Alert system. One distinction worth noting at this grade: the Panoramic View Monitor is not included — that comes on higher trims.
The 2026 Grand Highlander Limited builds on the XLE with a more capable Toyota Multimedia setup that adds Drive Connect, plus an 11-speaker JBL Premium Audio system. The second-row bench seat is replaced with captain's chairs (seven-passenger), and a removable second-row console and cup holder box is included.
Other upgrades over the XLE include a 12.3-inch multi-information display, 20-inch alloy wheels, leather upholstery, a driver's seat memory system, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a panoramic moonroof, a power liftgate with kick sensor, a 120V power outlet, LED fog lights, rain-sensing wipers, illuminated entry lights, puddle lamps, and auto-retractable power-folding exterior mirrors with memory. The Panoramic View Monitor and Rear Cross Traffic Alert with auto braking are added at this grade.
A digital key is also standard on the Limited — it is not available on the XLE. These combined upgrades make the Limited the first grade that delivers a full luxury-adjacent technology package.
The Hybrid XLE and Hybrid Limited models deliver the same feature sets as their gas counterparts, with one key addition: Toyota's proven gasoline-electric hybrid powertrain. The hybrid system pairs a 2.5 L 4-cylinder engine with an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission, producing 243 system horsepower. Manufacturer-estimated combined fuel consumption is 7.0 L/100 km. Towing capacity for Hybrid XLE and Hybrid Limited grades is rated at 3,500 lbs (1,588 kg).

The 2026 Grand Highlander Platinum Hybrid MAX is the only grade in the lineup to carry the Toyota Hybrid MAX powertrain. This system pairs a 2.4 L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with high-torque electric motors and a 6-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters, producing 362 system horsepower and a towing rating of 5,000 lbs (2,268 kg).
Beyond the powertrain, the Platinum Hybrid MAX adds several technology and safety features not found on any other Grand Highlander grade:
